The Melton Tuba Quartett was founded in 1987. It is the first and only one of its kind in Germany, consisting of four genuine tuba players.

Through countless activities in Germany and abroad the quartett has established its position in the world of music. The first concerts with their exceedingly positive response were followed by many performances: in German television and broadcasting, national and international music festivals like the International Tuba Conference “Verso il Millenio” in Riva del Garda in 1997, or the Army Band Tuba Conference in Washington, USA in 1999 and 2006, the “Kanzlerfest” in Bonn, Germany, and performances in the booked-out Berlin Philharmonic.

All those events reflect the full repertoire of the Melton Tuba Quartett. Through their seminars, masterclasses and the début CD “Premiere” the attention of renowned composers was drawn to the four musicians. Meanwhile there have been three more CD publications available: “Lazy Elephants” (1995), “Power” (1999) and “What a Wonderful World” (2005). Because of the high demand of works composed especially for the Melton Tuba Quartett, Bruno Uetz publishes and distributes the music series “Edition Melton Tuba Quartett”.

Now the Melton Tuba Quartett is opening a new chapter: in time for the world premiere of the groundbraking new work “Grand Concerto 4 Tubas” by American composer John Stevens a fifth CD was released, a coproduction with the Duisburg Philharmonic under the baton of Carl St. Clair.
